Point of View is set in spectacular gardens on the prestigious Sandy Lane Estate on the West Coast (the Platinum Coast) of Barbados.
This secluded garden house has been designed in the relaxed style of the old colonial plantation houses. Natural fabrics, marble floors and the use of local coral stone enhance the feeling of cool luxury. Point of View is centred on a shell shaped swimming pool with panoramic views over the Sandy Lane Golf Course and the Caribbean Sea. This tranquil garden is a haven for tropical birds and plants. Bourgainvillea, plumbago and hibiscus nestle amongst the oleander and palm trees. When lit at night, they are nothing less than magical.
There is a fully trained staff of a cook/housekeeper, maid/laundress and two gardeners. Food and drinks are not included in the rate for the house.
However the housekeeper will discuss your preferences and will shop and cook accordingly.(Receipts are kept and payment is due once the purchases have been made.) Babysitters can be provided on request.
As part of the Sandy Lane Owners' Association, Point of View has its own cabaña on the exclusive Sandy Lane Beach, a ¼ of a mile from the house. All types of water sport are available from the Sandy Lane Hotel and golf and tennis are on hand within a few hundred yards. Holetown, one mile away, has good shops and supermarket facilities. The capital, Bridgetown, is 5 miles from Sandy Lane and the international is 12 miles to the South East. Facilities also available elsewhere on the island include sailing, surfing, scuba diving, parasailing, golf, tennis, horse racing, bird watching, polo, cricket and rally driving. There are many musical events to enjoy throughout the year.
Barbados is the southeastern island of the Caribbean. Just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, the island rises to 1,115 feet (Mount Hillaby). Daytime temperatures vary between 27°C in January and to 32°C in August.
Having been discovered by the Portuguese in 1536 and claimed by the English in 1625, Barbados has a fascinating and colourful history. With a long colonial legacy, the island's people, Bajans, are friendly and hospitable.
